July 1953 – Mr. Peter Paul Grech and Dr. Anton Calleja gave birth to the first football team of the Kercem Ajax. Mr. Vincent Sciberras offered a house to be as a club premises. In the season 1953/54, Kercem Ajax took part in the Gozitan second division league. This was the only league organized by the G.F.A. and Kercem Ajax won it by 17 points in 10 games. They finished runners-up in the Dingli’s Cup and took part in the Under 16 league too. The 1954/55 and 1955/56 seasons Kercem Ajax did not participated in the G.F.A. leagues. The season 1956/57 was another disappointing one. This because Kercem Ajax began to play the 1st Division league but after a round they had to retire because of few players. Although they played the Dingli’s Cup finishing runners-up losing the final to Salesian Youths with the score being 0-3.

In the season 1957/58 Kercem Ajax played in the 2nd Division finishing 3rd with 6 points in 4 games. They did not participate in the K.O. In the seasons 1958/68 Kercem Ajax finished as a Football Club and did not played in any leagues organized by the G.F.A. Although they remained active with teams of the nursery. Then in July 1968 was held the first meeting for a few men to try to re-built the Kercem Ajax Football Club. In the season 1968/69 Kercem Ajax played in section B of the 2nd division finishing second. The less experience in our players was the reason for losing the promotion.

The 1969/70 season was a disaster for the club when they finished 7th from 8 teams. The 1970/71 season Kercem Ajax made a big improvement from the precedent season. They finished in the 3rd place. The 1971/72 season Kercem Ajax again finished in the last place of the 2nd division. This was a clear signal that Kercem was a small village. In 1972/73 Kercem Ajax did not participate in the G.F.A. leagues because of few players. In that summer, Kercem Ajax tried hard to return in the league and they made it. They finished 3 but then the G.F.A. decided to play only one league the year after and so Kercem Ajax were promoted.

In the season 1974/75 all teams participated in one league. Kercem Ajax finished 4th from bottom and were relegated. They won 6 games and drawn 5 from 20 games. They were eliminated in the semifinal of the G.F.A. Cup from Sannat Lions and they won the Challenge Cup against Victoria hotspurs with penalties after a 2-2 draw. This year Kercem Ajax had a Reserves Team too. The 1975/76 season was a great season for our club. They were crowned champions of the 2nd Division League with maximum points from 6 games, they scored 10 goals and no goal was scored against them. As a reward the Kercem Ajax team went playing in Sicily against Katane F.C. where they lost 1-4. In this year they participated in the G.F.A. Cup where were eliminated by Victoria United in the Quarter Finals.

The 1976/77 season Kercem Ajax played it in the 1st Division. They were not relegated and finished with 7 points from 10 games. They won the Challenge Cup against Nadur Youngsters with a 1-0 win. Then Kercem Ajax were relegated in the season 1977/78. In the 1978/79 season Kercem Ajax finished in the middle positions of the 2nd division league. They won the 2nd Division K.O. Competition for the first time. The 1979/80 season will be remembered as the year in which the club gained a nice and big place as there Premises. In this year it was organized a match between those year players and the 1953 players. In the 1980/81 Kercem Ajax finished runners-up behind Xewkija Tigers. They lost in the K.O. against them too.

The 1981/82 season began well because Kercem Ajax won the K.O. final. In the League and in the Freedom Cup final they both finished runners-up behind Ghajnsielem F.C. In the season 1982/83 Kercem Ajax played in Pool B where finished in the last place with 2 points from 4 matches. Then in the Relegation Pool they finished in the last four so they were relegated from the 1st division. Kercem Ajax had a Reserves Team and an Under 16 team which both participated in the G.F.A. leagues. In the 1983/84 season Kercem Ajax lost the promotion for few places. They lost in the semifinals of the G.F.A. K.O. The under 16 team had a difficult season.
